one with God is majority!
In this current season, most of us have found ourselves navigating new terrain and operating in unfamiliar spaces. For most, it’s been a scary, uncomfortable, tiring …and all around a difficult experience to, say the least.
I’ll share with you in full transparency that, despite my faith, in this season I have felt myself being pulled to a point where I began feeling inadequate and ill-equipped. Being “physically” alone during this period and “locked-in” didn’t help this state. Instead, it gave opportunity for the thoughts of insufficiency to flood my mind in waves of replay, over and over again.
Faithful to His Promises – one with God
I was sitting on the floor of my recently converted ‘home working space’ a few days ago wondering how and where to begin preparing for the latest task which had been assigned to me. I was feeling overwhelmed about it and was becoming emotional about it, when God sent me to the book of Matthew to hear His heart in that moment.
*side-note* I love how God makes his promises available to us throughout His Word and has the ability to pull us out of our dark places by reminding us of these promises. *side-note*
The Great Commission
Matthew chapter 28, verses 16 through to 20. It’s the final chapter of the book of Matthew, these are the last four verses in this particular passage, and this section of the scripture is referred to as ‘The Great Commission’. Here, Jesus is speaking to His disciples. Of course, by this time Jesus has been crucified and has risen, the news has spread etc. In these last verses He calls His disciples to Him and the Bible records that He commissions them in that hour.
Never Alone
It says, “…then the 11 disciples left for Galilee going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some of them doubted. Jesus came and told His disciples, “ I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth” therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you and be sure of this I am with you always even to the end of the age.(NTL)
The New King James version of the Bible says in that last verse, “…and lo I am with you always even to the end of the age. Amen.”
